April Foodie Pen Pals

I’m so excited, I have been participating in Foodie Pen Pals for a few months now, but haven’t had my blog until very recent…..so this will be my first time posting on my own blog!  I have enjoyed doing guest posts for those I’ve exchanged with, but it’s nice to be able to do a post on hopefulandhungry!

Foodie Pen Pals was created and is organized by Lindsay over at The Lean Green Bean.

Here’s a detailed explanation of the program:

-On the 5th of the month, you will receive your penpal pairing via email. It will be your responsibility to contact your penpal and get their mailing address and any other information you might need like allergies or dietary restrictions.

-You will have until the 15th of the month to put your box of goodies in the mail. On the last day of the month, you will post about the goodies you received from your penpal!

-The boxes are to be filled with fun foodie things, local food items or even homemade treatsThe spending limit is $15The box must also include something written. This can be anything from a note explaining what’s in the box, to a fun recipe…use your imagination!

-You are responsible for figuring out the best way to ship your items depending on their size and how fragile they are. (Don’t forget about flat rate boxes!)

-Foodie Penpals is open to blog readers as well as bloggers. If you’re a reader and you get paired with a blogger, you can choose to write a short guest post for your penpal to post on their blog about what you received. If two readers are paired together, neither needs to worry about writing a post for that month.

– Foodie Penpals is open to US, Canadian residents & UK residents.  Please note, Canadian Residents will be paired with other Canadians only. We’ve determined things might get too slow and backed up if we’re trying to send foods through customs across the border from US to Canada and vice versa. So, I’m going to keep two separate lists and match US w/ US and Canada w/ Canada!

This month I was paired with Amber at Hungry 4 A Healthy Life, she sent me a box full of yummy goodies.  She must have had a sense for some of my favorite things in life…..coconut, mint, tea, etc.

Amber packed in a dried fruit mix (apples, cherry and raisin)-perfect for a midday work snack.  Tortilla soup-I LOVE tortilla soup, I can’t wait for a cozy night at home to make this; tea-a variety of coconut flavored teas (very flavorful) and a couple of mint teas , I have tea every morning….so now I can mix it up a bit.

She also sent honey toasted sunflower nuts, I haven’t tried them yet, but can’t wait.  Sounds like sweet, crunchy goodness!  And Amber sent a coconut almond Kind bar and a chocolate coconut chew Larabar as well.

Thanks again to Amber for sending a great box for April Foodie Pen Pals!  I’ll enjoy all of my goodies!

I sent a box over to Courtney at The Little Food Court, so check out her blog to see what I sent her way.

Foodie Pen Pals is a fun program to get involved with if 1) You love receiving packages in the mail 2) You love food, fun snacks and goodies and 3) You ever remember having a pen pal and how much fun it was to connect to someone via mail!  Check out Lindsay’s blog to sign up at get involved.  The program is now in Canada and the UK!!!!
